Autumn has officially arrived. However, San Diego is not completely on board. The mornings and evenings have been crisper, but the days still very warm. Since my daughter loves the ocean we have been making the most of San Diego's endless summer.
It's inevitable the days will shift, becoming darker and the weather becoming cooler. To stay healthy it's important to honor the shifts in your body and mind as the seasons change. Give yourself extra self care during these transitions. For example, allow extra time to move slower if that's needed. Cooler temperatures can cause more stiffness and soreness, especially in the morning or if the humidity is high.
Have an immunity protocol to beat off the bugs. For us it involves walking, Yoga, stability training, but also more downtime and restorative poses to recover. We step up nutrition with more anti-oxidants such as blueberries and warm colorful food groups like vegetable pasta with mushrooms, broccoli and beans or tofu for protein. We also use essential oils to keep our cells and physiology functioning at its best efficiency. See below for an immunity recipe to keep thriving.
By stepping up these extra efforts you can stay healthy and energetic the whole season. However, we are not invincible and sometimes we do feel less then stellar. I've found if I've been good about taking care of myself then I do not get thrown off as frequently or as intensely, and I heal much quicker.
